Bishop Onyia of the Nike Diocese in Enugu State is being criticized for kneeling down during a church service in front of Barr. Peter Mbah, the PDP candidate for governor.

The incident, captured on video, took place at a thanksgiving service in honour of a former minister. Bishop Onyia asked Mbah, who arrived late and sat at the back, to move to the front row.

When Mbah declined, the Bishop knelt to persuade him, causing a stunned Mbah to also kneel. A priest and congregant had to pull the Bishop up.

Many Anglican followers are outraged and consider the Bishop’s action a degradation of the Bishop’s office.
