Family in Niger State Rejects Old Naira Notes as payment for Bride Price

A family in Gbako LGA of Niger State has rejected old N1,000 and N500 notes as payment for a bride price, according to the Daily Trust.

The suitor had given an undisclosed amount to the family of the woman, but they stated that they were not yet ready to buy items needed for the wedding and did not have a bank account to deposit the money.

They added that they made the demand due to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s deadline of January 31.
