1 minutes read

The Federal Government has issued a directive for the closure of all polytechnics in the country ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Mallam Adamu Adamu

This follows a similar directive for the closure of universities for the same purpose. The directive, signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and dated Feb 10th, was communicated by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Bugaje, to the Rectors and Provosts of polytechnics.

Due to concerns for the safety of staff, students, and properties, the Minister of Education has directed the shutdown of all polytechnics after consultations with relevant security agencies. Academic activities will be suspended from February 22nd to March 14th, 2023.

The NBTE Executive Secretary has been instructed to convey these directives to all institutions under his regulatory jurisdiction.
