On Wednesday, the Kwara State Fire Service successfully prevented a disaster in Ilorin, the state capital, by saving a building containing 15 shops.

The incident occurred at the Old NYSC Secretariat along Tanke Road, Ilorin, at about 10:49 pm.
According to Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson of the state fire service, the Brigade was alerted to the scene of the occurrence by a citizen named Mr Muhammad Abdullahi, and the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in a timely manner.
In his statement; one “Mr Muhammad Abdullahi, quickly summoned the Brigade to the scene of occurrence at about 22:49hrs (10:49pm) yesterday night.”
The fire, which was caused by a power surge, affected only two of the 15 shops in the building.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the public to call the fire brigade immediately in the event of any fire emergency, emphasizing that doing so would help to save lives and properties in the state.
