The police may perform an autopsy in light of the scandal surrounding the passing of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the three-year-old son of David Adeleke (Davido), Nigeria’s top hip-hop artist, and his wife, Chioma Rowland.
Ifeanyi’s autopsy will be performed by the police in order to ascertain whether he died as a result of drawing in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.
A source who spoke on the incident said an autopsy is routinely performed by the police in cases like these; but, if the boy’s family oppose, the police will abandon their plans.
In his word:
“Though the family members are not saying anything yet because they are still in shock but until anybody says stop, the standard procedure is to conduct an autopsy and we are going to follow that procedure just like in any case of death.”
The insider went on to say that while the chef and nanny are still being held in custody, six out of Davido’s eight domestic workers who had been invited for interrogation earlier have been released.
He added:
“It was the work of the nanny to take care of the child (Ifeanyi); the nanny was negligent or how could the boy have left the house without her knowledge?
“The boy left the house, walked to the back where the swimming pool is situated and fell into the swimming pool. Nobody noticed until much later. At that point in time, he had drowned and was at the bottom of the swimming pool.”
