In partnership with Wema Bank and Digix Technologies, the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has announced the Karrygo Cashless Programme, a mobile application for cashless payments for travellers.
Post Nigeria gathered that, On Wednesday, Dr Musa Mohammed who is the national president of RTEAN, unveiled the application in Abuja.
Mohammed, who was represented by Muhammed Abubakar Bishara, the association’s deputy national president administration, claimed that the application will reduce fraud and raise accountability in the transportation industry.
According to him, the program would also offer a smooth financial transaction procedure for Nigerians who were in transit in keeping with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s cashless policy.
He claimed that the program would aid in identifying security concerns since it would have collected all data on travellers’ final destinations from the digital manifest created during the processing of their travel-related payments.
In his statement;
“It is our hope that when this programme comes into full implementation, a lot more sanity would have been enthroned in the road transport sector in Nigeria.
“After this official launching, all our members across the country will be properly trained on what should be done to achieve greater results.
“This is because we need personnel and men to handle the equipment to be used. For instance, non-internet P.O.S, which will function without network, because of those in the remote areas,” he said.
