On Wednesday night, Bendel Insurance maintained its unbeaten streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League by securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United.
The Benin-based team, also known as the Benin Arsenals, have won six games and drawn two out of their eight matches this season.
The decisive goal was scored by Ebuka Akobundu in the 52nd minute, with a powerful shot from inside the box that beat the Nasarawa United goalkeeper, Jerry Isaac. With 20 points from eight matches, Insurance remains at the top of Group A.
Meanwhile, in Aba, Enyimba defeated Shooting Stars 2-0, with Emeka Obioma scoring both goals.
Obioma opened the scoring for the People’s Elephant with a header just two minutes into the game and later netted the second goal late in the first half after being set up by Ekenne Awazie.
With seven goals from eight games, Obioma is currently the top scorer in the NPFL.
