A person was reportedly killed in the Apata area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, during a clash between protesters and security agents.

The incident also resulted in two people getting injured and being hospitalized.

The clash followed the protests that took place in various parts of Ibadan the day before, in response to the scarcity of new naira notes and fuel.

The affected areas included Agodi Gate, Iwo Road, Monatan, Olodo, and Iyana Church. On Saturday morning, a new protest took place in the Apata area, which led to the death of a commercial motorcyclist.

Normalcy has reportedly returned to the area, though attempts to get a statement from the police’s Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful.
