A lawyer, Festus Ogun, disclosed on Friday that the recently sacked governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, would remain in office pending the appeal of the Tribunal’s judgment that overturned his election as governor.

Ogun made this announcement in a tweet posted on his Twitter page.

He explained that according to the Electoral Act 2022, Adeleke is entitled to remain in office for 21 days while deciding whether to file an appeal against the judgement.

If he chooses not to appeal, he must leave office after 21 days, but if he does file an appeal, he will remain in office and continue to receive the benefits of the office until the appeal is determined.

The Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal had earlier sacked Adeleke as Governor of the state due to over-voting in 744 polling units.
