Paris Saint-Germain has announced that Neymar, the Brazilian striker, will need surgery and will miss the rest of the season due to the instability of his right ankle in recent years.

“Neymar Jr has had several bouts of instability in his right ankle in recent years. After his last sprain on 20 February, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a greater risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted confirmed this need,” read a PSG medical report.
“This surgery will take place in the next few days at the ASPETAR Hospital in Doha. He is expected to miss 3 to 4 months before returning to collective training.”
Post Nigeria recalls that Neymar sustained an ankle sprain during the Lille game on February 19th and was replaced on a stretcher in the 51st minute.
This was a few days after he played the full first leg of the Champions League round of 16 ties against Bayern Munich.
Although it appeared that he would finally have a successful season, he has unfortunately suffered another injury.
PSG had previously confirmed that he had a sprained ankle but cautioned that the first examination did not indicate the possibility of a fracture.
Since joining PSG in 2017 from Barcelona in the most expensive transfer in football history, Neymar has experienced several injuries.
