Spotify executive who signed Harry and Meghan podcast resigns amid layoffs of 600 employees

Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s Chief Content Officer, who was in charge of the streaming company’s transition into podcasts, has resigned as the company announces 600 layoffs.

Post Nigeria gathered that Ostroff had secured a multi-million-pound podcast deal with Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but as Spotify faces increasing pressure on consumer spending and a wider tech sell-off, CEO Daniel Ek announced that Ostroff has “decided to depart Spotify.”

Spotify’s shares have also been hit, down more than 70% since February 2021, causing a loss of roughly £40 billion in value.

This move is seen as an effort to boost business, and similar job cuts have also been seen at Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter in recent months due to similar pressures on advertising.
