Victor Osimhen, a forward for Napoli, has been named the Serie A Player of the Month for January. The Nigerian international received the most votes after scoring five goals and providing one assist in four appearances for Napoli during the month.
This is not the first time Osimhen has been recognized for his performance, as he previously won the Serie A Goal of the Month award. Although he was nominated for the Player of the Month award in October and November, he lost to Juventus forward Moise Kean and AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.
In the latest award, Osimhen beat out Ademola Lookman, Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan, Roma forward Paulo Dybala, and Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto. He is the third Napoli player to have won the award in the past five months.
On Sunday, the award will be given to Osimhen before Napoli plays Cremonese at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.
